Santa to visit Carnegie on Saturday

December 01, 2021

Santa Claus won't be the only one putting smiles on the faces of Caddo County residents in Carnegie this weekend. The Carnegie Chamber of Commerce will be handing out several prizes - including two new bicycles and two scooters - at its Hometown Christmas gala. The Hometown Christmas event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Carnegie Fairgrounds with a visit from Santa Claus. The Jolly Old Elf will be available to visit with area children during his stop. According to Chamber organizers, every child that visits with Santa will receive a free gift. In all, the chamber has collected more than 300 gifts, including 150 for boys, 150 for girls and more than 50 for infants. Children visiting with Santa will also be able to go to the Treat Shack for a goodie.

Santa will also be available to have his photo taken with them. A photographer will be on hand to help with parents' photo needs.

As children visit with Santa, they will be able to enter their names into a special drawing for two bicycles and two scooters. Adults won't be left out of the fun either as chamber officials will be giving away 10 turkeys, 10 hams and numerous gift certificates from local merchants.

Later in the evening, the festivities will move to downtown Carnegie for the annual lighted parade. Parade entrants will begin lining up at 6 p.m. at the Carnegie Church of the Nazarene parking lot.

The top entrants in each division in the parade will be receive prizes. The first-place finisher in the Floats division will be $100. The second- and third-place finishers will get $75 and $50, respectively. The winner of the ATV Division will get $75, while the second- and third-place finishers will get $50 and $25, respectively. The winner in the Kids 12 and Under Division will get a $25 first-place award. The second- and third-place winners will receive $15 and $10, respectively.

The Most Spirited entry will receive a commemorative plaque.
